Controversial Kemi Badenoch says she’s turned agnostic, doesn’t believe in God
Leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom (UK), Kemi Badenoch, has said she does not “believe in God anymore.”
Speaking when she appeared on a podcast hosted by Free Press editor, Bari Weiss, Badenoch clarified that she is not an “atheist”, adding that she identifies as “agnostic” and also a “cultural Christian.”
She said, “I don’t think it matters if people believe in God or not. What matters is what they do with the belief or the lack of it.”

Badenoch has been in the news of late after she dissociated herself from Nigeria, saying she has nothing to do with the Islamic northern region.
She also accused the Nigeria Police of robbing citizens instead of protecting them.
She said, “My experience with the Nigeria Police was very negative. Coming to the UK, my experience with the British Police was very positive.
“The police in Nigeria will rob us (laughter). When people say I have this bad experience with the police because I’m black, I say well…I remember the police stole my brother’s shoe and his watch.”
Understanding ‘Cultural Christian’
The term “cultural Christian” refers to individuals who may identify with the Christian faith primarily through cultural or familial ties rather than through personal belief in its doctrines or the existence of God. This phenomenon is increasingly common in secular societies where religious affiliation may be more about heritage and identity than active faith. Badenoch’s self-identification as a cultural Christian suggests that she appreciates the values and traditions associated with Christianity but does not subscribe to its theological claims.
Agnosticism
Agnosticism is the view or belief that the existence of God, the divine, or the supernatural is either unknowable in principle or unknown in fact. It can also mean an apathy towards such religious belief and refer to personal limitations rather than a worldview.
Another understanding of agnosticism is the view that “human reason is incapable of providing sufficient rational grounds to justify either the belief that God exists or the belief that God does not exist.”
