Centre faults Kano government’s policy on COVID-19 vaccine
A Kano-based non-governmental organization, the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) called for a review of government’s vaccine policy to incorporate what it called “Covid-19 vaccine needs.”
CITAD project manager, public education on COVID-19 vaccine, Hamza Ibrahim stated this recently as he spoke with NigerianSketch at the organisation’s Kano office.
He said knowing COVID-19 vaccine needs will enhance population target, help understand peculiarities of the population and vaccine methodology in order to get more people vaccinated.
He added that the complain being put forward by health workers on nonpayment of allowances in many states is negatively affecting the efforts to get people vaccinated.
CITAD notes that it has also discovered that many people are reluctant to take Covid-19 for the fear of adverse effects it may have on them and call on relevant stakeholders to ensure awareness campaign for people to accept the vaccine.
