NBA Kano clears 13 candidates for 2024 election
The Electoral Committee (ELCOM) of the Kano branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has cleared 13 candidates to contest for nine positions in branch’s 2024 election.
A list signed and released on Tuesday by the chairman and secretary of the ELCOM, Ismail Abdulazeez and Zainab A. Bello respectively, disqualified only one aspirant to the seat of the branch’s chairman.

The disqualified aspirant was Ahmad Sani Bawa. The list simply described him as “NOT QUALIFIED” without further explanation regarding his disqualification.
Four positions will be filled without contest as only single candidates aspired for them. These were the positions of vice chairman, treasurer, publicity secretary, welfare secretary and provost.
The release of the list had been long anticipated as it took unusually longer than necessary after the screening of the aspirants more than two weeks ago.

With the eventual release of the list, members of the branch now await the election timetable and the lifting of ban on campaign.
Some urged ELCOM “not to waste time unnecessarily in lifting the ban on campaign and coming up with the timetable.”
