Saraki says he wants to contest for president in 2023 to rescue Nigeria
Former Nigeria’s Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has indicated that he would be gunning to be Nigeria’s president in 2023 in order to rescue the country.
Saraki gave an unveiled hint of his ambition while reacting to a follower who he said urged him on Twitter to rescue Nigeria.
In a post on his official Facebook, the former senate president urged Nigerians to work with him as he pushes for the presidency.
He said in the posts: “Earlier, I replied to a follower of mine on Twitter, who like thousands of you have been clamouring for a united front to #RescueNigeria.
“As we prepare for the journey ahead, I hope we can all join hands to get the ticket of our great party, PDP, and build a nation that works for all of us.
“Join me to make our communities safer and provide real opportunities for you and your families. I have a strong record of delivering and experience in making tough decisions.
“Let’s build a new Nigeria that works for EVERYONE!”
Like Saraki, several other Nigerian politicians have declared their intention to run for president.
Former Lagos State governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi; former Abia State governor, Orji Uzo Kalu and former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, have all shown interest in the presidency.
