Kano Government House denies bullet hit journalist on duty
Authorities at Kano State Government House have denied reports that a stray bullet hit a reporter Friday night.
A reporter with state-owned television, Abubakar Rimi Television Station (ARTV), Naziru Idris Ya’u, attached to Kano State Government House, was hit by a stray bullet Friday evening, at the Government House.
But Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature, said in a statement on Saturday that there was misinformation at play.
The statement read,’’ The attention of Kano state government has been drawn to a one-sided media report on social media revealing that a journalist, with the state own Television station, attached to the Government house was hit by a stray bullet.

“The incident, which occurred amidst a flurry of misinformation, sparked widespread concern and speculation regarding the safety of journalists covering events at the government house.
‘’For clarity purpose, Naziru Yau, the reporter of the state television station was not hit by any stray bullet.
‘’Instead, he sustained injuries from the metal debris emanating from an ongoing construction at the Kano State Government House, an area that has been barricaded for caution.’’
Government House reporters have however faulted Bature’s position, saying he may not be telling the truth.
They pointed out that the affected reporter was nowhere near any construction site when he was hit.
Earlier reports said the Government House clinic that treated the reported believed the wound he sustained was from a bullet probably shot from afar.
The issue has remained unresolved, and security operatives at the Government House have kept sealed lips about the investigation they claimed they were carrying out.
