2022: NBA Kano branch elects new leaders
Kano branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) held its election on Tuesday, 28th June, 2022 at the branch’s secretariat.
The chairman of the electoral committee (ELCOM), Dr Dahiru Jafaru Usman, who declared the election result, said Sagir Sulaiman Gezawa was returned as the new branch chairman.
Gezawa garnered 317 votes to beat his co-contestant to the chairmanship seat, Dr Nuraddeen Ado Ayagi, who got 40 votes.
Below are the election results as conveyed by the ELCOM secretary, Tijjani Ibrahim, in a release:
- CHAIRMAN:
(a) Sagir Suleiman Gezawa 317 Votes – WINNER
(b) Dr. Nuraddeen Ado Ayagi 40 Votes.
- VICE CHAIRMAN:
Abdullahi Abdussalam Bature is returned UNOPPOSED.
- SECRETARY:
Mukhtar Bello Shehu is returned UNOPPOSED.
- ASSISTANT SECRETARY:
(a) Aminu Sani Muhammad 187 Votes – WINNER
(b) Yahaya Ibrahim Shariff 161 Votes.
- TREASURER:
Ibrahim Abdullahi is returned UNOPPOSED.
- PUBLICITY SECRETARY:
Ibrahim Baba Saliu is returned UNOPPOSED.
- FINANCIAL SECRETARY:
Patience A. Edamaku is returned UNOPPOSED.
- SOCIAL SECRETARY:
(a)Sa’adatu Mahmud Ibrahim 263 Votes – WINNER
(b) Umar Shehu 102 Votes.
- WELFARE SECRETARY:
(a) Salihu Umar Kududdufawa 193 Votes WINNER.
(b) AbdulFatah Muhammad 152 Votes.
- PROVOST:
Chisa Nelson Obile is returned UNOPPOSED.
Meanwhile, the new EXCO is expected to be sworn in at the branch’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thursday, the 30th day of June, 2022, according to a release by the branch secretary, Haruna Sale Zakariyyah.
