10-yr-old girl dies of electrocution in Ilorin
A girl, Fatimah Yunusa, said to be around 10 years, has been reportedly electrocuted in Oke-Oyi, Ilọrin East LGA of Kwara State.
The incident happened weekend when the community was fixing a fallen pole.
According to a witness, “The poll fell after a midnight rain and the community was trying to fix it in the morning. It was during the process that the victim got electrocuted when she mistakenly held one of the wires.”
The spokeswoman of the state police command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Wednesday.

According to her, “Yes, it was true but the case was not reported. However, when our men got wind of it, they traced the place. Her name is Fatimah Yunusa and she has since been buried.’’
Some time in the past, Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old student at Chrisland International Schools, died of electrocution in Lagos State.
Her father, Michael Adeniran, claimed that she was electrocuted by a naked wire from a cotton candy vendor machine at the school’s inter-house sports competition. The Lagos State government confirmed this claim after an autopsy revealed that she died from asphyxia and electrocution. The Directorate of Public Prosecutions has been directed to issue legal advice on the matter and anyone found culpable will be charged in court.
