DSS arrests 2 Kano local govt chairmen over sponsorship of thugs
The Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano State has arrested some local government council chairmen over alleged use of armed political thugs in the state.
The chairmen of Gwarzo and Kano Municipal, Bashir Abdullahi Kutama and Faizu Alfindiki respectively, were arrested on Wednesday after about three persons were killed during political activities of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje at various local government areas of the state.
There have been concerns that the way the state government has been engaging the youth in political thuggery is threatening peace and security in the state.
Solacebase quoted an anonymous DSS officer to have said Alfindiki, the Chairman of Kano Municipal; and Bashir Abdullahi Kutama, chairman of Gwarzo local governments, were arrested over allegations of sponsoring political thuggery which culminated into attacks and subsequent killings of innocent citizens in the state.
Reports said the DSS has placed the chairman of Gwale local government area, Khalid Ishaq Diso, on its wanted list, for the same allegations.
In the same vein, a certain Dr Sabiu, an SSA to the governor was also arrested by the security operatives on the same allegations.
Clash between supporters of some politicians on Saturday at the Rano township stadium, Rano local government area of the state during the inauguration of APC executives left four persons dead and four others injured, even though police authorities confirmed the death of only one person.
