Tijjani Babangida in critical condition, son dies, wife loses eye in fatal accident
Former Nigerian football international, Tijjani Babangida, is in critical condition as he battles physical and emotional pains after the road accident that claimed the lives of his brother and son.
Babangida lost his year-old son, Fadil, days after the fatal accident.
The young Fadil died from injuries he sustained in the road accident that claimed the life of his father’s brother, Ibrahim Babangida.
On Thursday, May 9th, 2024, Tijjani, alongside his wife Maryam, brother, son and maid were involved in a ghastly car accident along Zaria-Kaduna Road.

While his younger brother Ibrahim died on the spot, Tijjani, who is the president of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) and the other occupants of the vehicle were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Reports have now confirmed that Fadil eventually died in the hospital.
Babangida’s wife, Maryam, has also lost one of her eyes following the severe damage to her face, while he was still battling for life in the hospital.
Their maid also suffered a fracture in her leg.
Meanwhile, Tijjani may have been transferred to a hospital in Abuja where he is to undergo surgery on his damaged knee and other injuries.
Babangida, known for his successful football career that included spells at clubs like Ajax and Roda JC, now finds himself mourning the loss of his brother and son while dealing with the critical condition of his wife following this heartbreaking incident.
